But the heartache and betrayal wasn’t worth it.

He was better off alone… wasn’t he?

Levi enjoys his secluded life on the mountain until his friend convinces him he needs a woman in his life. A wife, when you’ve barely been around people, especially women? If only he could pick one out at the store like a shovel or bag of flour. But Levi falls head over heels—ignoring all the warning signs that something is wrong—until a delay in marrying her reveals her true intentions.

Now, he’s decided heartache and betrayal aren’t worth it. He’s better off alone. But God has a surprise waiting in the wilderness, softening the devastation he had suffered…in the form of a feisty woman who has claimed his mountain home for her own.

DEVOTEDTOHOPE'S REVIEW OF LEVI'S LOYALTY

I didn’t just enjoy this story—I felt it. Every moment of heartbreak. Every whisper of hope. Every prayer breathed in the quiet of a mountain morning. Levi’s Loyalty reminded me that even in our most isolated places, God is still at work. He sees. He heals.
And sometimes, He sends grace right up the mountain to find us.

What starts as a story about a man burned by betrayal quickly turns into something deeper: a quiet, honest wrestling with God in the wilderness. Not the kind that rages out loud—but the kind that grips your chest and leaves you staring at the sky, heart split wide open: “His chest literally hurt, and he wanted to scream out in agony. He looked up at the sky and called out to God for help. Pouring his heart out to God quietly for long minutes, knowing he had never been so hurt…”  That moment? That’s when I knew I wasn’t just reading—I was right there beside him, holding my breath.

Levi’s story is rugged and tender all at once. A mountain man with a bruised heart, a quiet strength, and a prayer life that is real. He doesn’t toss up polished words. He struggles. He waits. He presses in when everything in him wants to pull away: “Levi spent hours in prayer, trying not to be mad at God, reminding himself that God was merciful.”

That tension—that growth—is where this story lives. It’s not about perfection. It’s about surrender.

And God doesn’t leave him there. “As he prayed, his nervousness turned to joy and excitement.”

There’s beauty in that shift. And this story handles it with both grit and grace.

I loved this book. I laughed. I cried. I also listened to Spencer Dillehay’s narration on audio, and every moment landed exactly where it needed to. The writing? Smooth and impactful. The message? Anchored in truth.

“…but living in seclusion kept him from hearing the man of God preach. Listening to this man now was like food for his hungry soul.” That’s what this short novel felt like to me—food for the soul.

And that ending? Just enough resolution to satisfy—and just enough heart to make me want more.
