4 Stars!

Lani is a rookie K-9 officer with something to prove, but the danger becomes personal very quickly. I enjoyed the K-9 element, the suspense kept moving, and once the threat begins connecting with Noah’s past and the murder of his brother, everything feels much closer and heavier.

I liked Lani and Noah together, but I think I appreciated even more what both of them were carrying. There is grief here. Fear. The need to protect. The temptation to let the past dictate what comes next. Yet they still have to keep moving forward.

Psalm 31:24 is placed before the first chapter, and it is such a fitting verse for this story. “Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord.” That foundation matters because the courage in this book is not simply bravery for bravery’s sake. It is connected to hope in God.

I also noticed the quieter faith moments, like Lani thinking that “God’s creation never ceased to amaze her.” I love details like that because they show faith living in the ordinary parts of a person too, not only in moments of crisis.

That is probably what gave this story more weight for me. Courage is not the absence of fear. Sometimes it is choosing to keep going, keep trusting, and keep placing hope where it belongs.

Megan Tusing narrates the audiobook, and I enjoyed experiencing this one in audio format.

Courage Under Fire gave me the suspense and danger I expect from Love Inspired Suspense, but the reminder underneath it all is what I will remember most: real courage grows from where our hope is placed.

I received a digital audio ARC from the publisher, HarperCollins, via NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the great writing, engaging narration, and the story’s wonderful content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
