Kira Yassan knows how to save a life. The harder question in Warrior is whether she knows how to live with everything survival has left behind.
This is where the tender ache of this story found its way under my skin.
Kira carries medical skill, war-zone memories, classified mission fallout, and a past that still knows where to bite. Luca Saxon walking back into her life brings danger with him, along with unfinished history, fragile trust, and a connection that never fully quieted.
Lisa Phillips writes suspense with fierce, breath-stealing force. Midnight threats, witness protection pressure, cartel danger, prison-break intensity, conspiracy, and the tangled shadows of Renegade kept the danger pressing hard on every page. Kira and Luca made me ache for the healing they both needed. Their courage is bruised and costly. It keeps rising when fear has every reason to win.
The faith thread pierced deep. Kira’s reflection about having plenty in her own life that would condemn her, “but for the blood of Jesus,” gave the story its Gospel heartbeat. That line cut straight to the heart of Kira’s story because it named the mercy every warrior needs most: the blood of Jesus covering what strength could never heal.
Mercy.
I loved the way Warrior carried danger right to the door and then deeper into the heart, where fear had plenty to say and God’s grace answered with greater mercy.
5 stars. This one made me want to keep reading every book Lisa Phillips writes.
