5 Stars!

How to Eat Your Bible calls the reader to the table again and again, until loving God’s Word becomes as natural as reaching for daily bread. It teaches. It exhorts. It awakens hunger.

I picked up this book expecting practical advice, but what I found was so much more: an invitation to cultivate a true and lasting appetite. Nate Pickowicz gently but persistently reminds us that loving God means loving His Word, and that distance from God is so often the result of neglecting Scripture, not lack of emotion or circumstance. “To neglect the Word,” Pickowicz writes, “is to neglect the God who gave it.”

I was deeply encouraged by his honesty about the obstacles—confusing names, long books, lack of time, even the fear of not “getting it right.” Every chapter provides practical, do-able ways to make Scripture a regular, needed, treasured part of my life. It’s so much more than a collection of methods; it’s a mindset: come hungry, come expectant, come with your whole heart!

Pickowicz doesn’t stop at inspiration; he roots the entire book in church history and personal testimony. I especially loved the chapter on “consuming” God’s Word—not nibbling or snacking, but devouring with purpose, like the prophets before us: “Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart.” (Jeremiah 15:16)

The included Seven-Year Bible Plan is a gift for many: graciously slow, deeply thoughtful, designed for the reader who longs not to rush but to linger, to absorb, to be transformed. It’s not about finishing the Bible quickly, but about being shaped by the Word as I consume it slowly, thoughtfully, and with expectation.

The joy that comes from regular, wholehearted time in Scripture is amazing. This book reinforced what I know is true: when I read, study, apply, and share God’s Word, my soul flourishes. It’s as simple, and as powerful, as that. I finished How to Eat Your Bible with renewed confidence that the feast God offers is always abundant, always satisfying, always enough.

If you’re craving more than a quick taste … if you’re ready for the meals your soul was made for …this book is the invitation and the encouragement you need.

Very good. Highly recommended for anyone who loves God, wants to love His Word more, or simply wants to learn how to sit at His table and eat. Come with an appetite, and discover just how generous the feast truly is.
