3.5 Stars!
I Believe, I Speak is a devotional written with honesty and tenderness. Selah Rae offers thirty-one daily declarations rooted in Scripture, each paired with reflections and prayers that invite women to lift their voices in faith. Her writing feels authentic and compassionate, and many pages—such as “God’s not done yet” or “I speak peace over every anxious thought”—carry truths that encourage the weary heart to lean deeply into God’s Word.
The rhythm of declaration, Scripture, and prayer makes this book beautifully accessible, and the author’s transparency gives it genuine depth. I especially loved the reminders that God meets us in weakness and holds us steady when everything inside feels fragile. These pages also encourage pouring our hearts out to our Lord and Savior—raw emotions, honest prayers, even the parts we don’t know how to put into words. Gentle examples show what it looks like to bring our full selves before Him, trusting that He receives every prayer, every sigh, every tear (Psalm 56:8 and Romans 8:26).
Some of the taglines and declarations (such as “walk confidently into the life you are destined to reign” or “your breakthrough is waiting”) should be approached with discernment. Scripture proclaims our true victory in Christ and assures us of His presence, while also calling us to embrace suffering, surrender, and seasons of waiting. Hope rests not in guarantees we may want or expect, but in God’s sovereignty over every moment, in His unchanging promises, and in the eternal triumph secured through Christ. With that lens, the encouragement here can be received with grace and balance.
This devotional may serve as a gentle companion for women who want to be reminded of God’s nearness and to practice speaking Scripture with faith. It is best used alongside regular Bible study and trusted teaching, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide, correct, and empower each declaration so that it rests firmly on Scripture. Though I’d personally place this closer to 3.5 stars, I’ve rounded up to 4 on sites that allow only whole numbers. The author’s heart to lift weary women with God’s promises shines through, and I trust her heart strongly desires readers to engage these spoken words of faith with both encouragement and discernment.
I received a digital copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. These thoughts are my honest reflections, shared to ensure transparency and reliability.
