What a delight! Deadly Bloom is exactly what I hope for in a cozy mystery: a cast of lovable, quick-witted friends, a garden full of secrets, and a plot that kept me guessing right up to the final page. I picked it up intending to read a chapter or two and ended up finishing the whole story in one sitting—there was simply no putting it down.

Irma, Rosie, and Lovina are the heart of this prequel, each bringing their own brand of courage, humor, and determination to the story. I absolutely loved their friendship and their unconventional approach to sleuthing. Their Thursday morning book club transforms overnight into a team of amateur detectives, but their faith and devotion to one another shine through every step of the investigation. Even when suspicion lands on Irma and her beloved roses, her quiet strength and trust in God remain at the center of the story.

The town of Sweet Briar is as charming as any cozy-mystery setting, but what makes this novella stand out is how it balances warmth, humor, and just the right touch of danger. There are rivalries, secrets hidden among the blooms, and a clever twist on the classic “poisoned flower show” mystery. All of this is achieved in about sixty pages—proof of Tracy Fredrychowski’s gift for tight, lively storytelling.

I truly hope this is just the beginning of many volumes in the Amish Book Club Mystery series. If you love stories where friendship and faith are as important as the whodunit, and where every chapter brings a new reason to smile, you’ll want to join Irma, Rosie, and Lovina in Sweet Briar. I can’t wait to see what mysteries bloom next!

Very highly recommended for fans of cozy mysteries, gardening, and all things Amish. I loved it.
