4 Stars!

Hunting a Killer threw me into a kind of alarm that sits in the chest. Finn McDaniel wakes wounded and disoriented, and the story immediately feels personal. Memory has holes. Danger has direction. The sense of pursuit feels close enough to hear.

Finn’s amnesia creates pressure that feels believable in audio. His training and protective instincts are still intact. Yet the missing pieces keep tugging at every conversation, every choice, every turn in the road. The suspense grows through that tension, and the stakes keep rising.

Jordyn Williams brought steadiness I trusted. Her search and rescue work carries weight, and Sarah Varland writes that work with care. The partnership with cadaver dog Cipher became a highlight for me. Cipher reads as a real working dog with real purpose. The search scenes feel patient and serious, which made the emotional impact land harder.

The shared loss between Finn and Jordyn adds ache to the story, and the romance grows with restraint. That restraint felt right for this line and for their history. The pacing … the writing keeps moving while still giving the heart space to feel what the characters carry.

Faith shows up in lived ways. Prayer rises when fear tightens. Trust in God becomes a decision repeated under pressure. That spiritual presence felt sincere to me.

I listened to the audiobook, and Cindy Kay served the story well. Her narration stays clear, attentive, and emotionally aware, especially in scenes where danger and grief share the same air.

Suspense with substance. Faith with weight. Cipher with purpose.

I received a digital ARC from the publisher and NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the writing, the narration, and the story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
