Liam could save strangers from the canyon and still have no idea how to survive what grief had buried in him. That is where Over the Edge hit deepest for me.
The Grand Canyon danger has teeth in this story. Russian mobsters are closing in. Hidden treasure raises the stakes. Flash floods turn the canyon into something fierce and unforgiving. Rescue comes with risk every time. The pressure around Liam and Nimue keeps rising until danger starts exposing what each of them has carried in silence.
Nimue has survived by disappearing. Liam has survived by locking his heart behind responsibility. They both know how to keep moving. They both know how to function under pressure. Movement can keep a person alive for a season. Only the Lord can restore what sin, suffering, and sorrow have broken in the heart.
Noah’s words to Liam gave language to the ache beneath his strength: “Certain things only God can heal.” I kept thinking about how often a person can look steady from the outside while carrying places only the Lord can reach.
Isaiah 43:2 frames the book before the first chapter begins, and by the time the waters rise in this story, that verse feels alive on the page. God says when His people pass through the waters, He will be with them. His presence becomes the lifeline.
Susan May Warren and Tari Faris gave this story sharp suspense, emotional force, and a romance shaped by danger and trust. I closed the final page with Isaiah 43:2 resting deep in my heart: those who belong to the one true God may pass through deep waters, yet they never pass through them abandoned.
Readers who would love this book: readers who enjoy dangerous stories with emotional weight, rescue with spiritual meaning, and faith that matters every day.
