The Stained Glass Window by Crystal Walton is a story of broken pieces, holy light, and the mercy of God meeting His children in places they never would have chosen.
Briggs and Shelly both carry wounds that run far deeper than anything visible. They know what it is to feel helpless. To ache over what could not be changed. To wonder how suffering, loss, and detours can possibly belong inside a good God's plan.
Crystal Walton handles those questions with tenderness and truth. She does not offer easy answers. She lets the characters wrestle. She lets the pain breathe. Through it all, the faith in this story shines with substance.
The stained glass window became such a powerful image for me. Broken pieces. Light. Peace in the middle of devastation. That picture became the heartbeat of the book. The beauty of stained glass is found in the way light still shines through broken pieces. God's light is always there, steady and merciful, even in the shattered pieces. His grace reaches places our eyes may struggle to see.
Briggs and Shelly's romance was sweet, funny, and beautifully steady. I loved their banter, their care for each other, and the way their weaknesses became places where grace could be seen more clearly. The mountain danger kept the story moving, but the spiritual depth is what made it unforgettable.
I've memorized this line: "I think we have to do our best to try and trust God to step in where we can't."
And this one pierced deeply too: "Doesn't that imply you believe our weaknesses don't hold Him back?"
Yes. That is the kind of truth Christian fiction can carry when it is written with courage.
The Stained Glass Window is romantic, suspenseful, tender, and deeply faith-filled. It is a story about surrendering control, trusting God with our limitations, and believing that mercy can pave a road even through the wreckage.
